Thowback Thursday (09.19.13): The Father of Miss World

As I start the countdown to the grand finale of Miss World 2013, let me take this opportunity to honor the man behind the Miss World pageant in our throwback Thursday entry for today.

Pictured above is Eric Morley. He was the founder of the Miss World pageant and turned it into a popular TV fixture after being televised in 1959. After his death in 2000, his widow – Julia Morley – took over and is now heading the pageant. Miss World Organization – the group that owns and manages the pageant – was able to raise several million pounds for its charities and causes being supported. To Eric Morley, thank you for creating Miss World and making the world a much more beautiful place to live in 😀
