I really can’t wait for the long weekend – Cebu City will be celebrating its Charter Day on Monday so it is Holiday for us! I have pending Binibining Pilipinas 2014 posts here – Talent Show, Web Interviews and Press Presentation. While waiting for my much more detailed press presentation post, let me share with you the news report of Mario Dumaual about the event in last Wednesday’s TV Patrol. For those who are not familiar, TV Patrol is the daily primetime news program of ABS-CBN. Of course, ABS-CBN is the exclusive media partner and a presenter of Binibining Pilipinas 2014. The reporter mentioned some names of candidates who, I guess, got noticed during the event. Actually, the reporter said – “Umangat sa quarter turns” – which literally translate to “rose/have risen during/in the quarter turns”. The reporter mentioned Parul Shah, Kris Tiffany Janson, Diana Arevalo, Joy Marie Gangan, Bianca Guidotti, Mary Jean “MJ” Lastimosa, Pia Wurtzbach and Yvethe Marie Santiago.

So why am I writing about this report?!? It is simple – ABS-CBN is one of the most important partners of BPCI and Binibining Pilipinas! Getting noticed by someone from the camp of a partner/sponsor means a huge boost to the campaign of these ladies. Second, being mentioned as one of the “performers” in a primetime news report means a lot of exposure to the delegate which will probably translate to name recall not just by the sponsors but also of ordinary citizen. I am also sure that the list is a well-thought list as these names can also be seen in my leader boards (at least they showed up there at least once)! Surely, the shout-out means a lot to these 8 candidates.
Now, let me give you a very bold prediction 🙂 I am guessing that at least two of the crowns this year will be awarded to two ladies from this group! Bookmark this post and let’s wait until March 30!

This is just the start, and there could be unexpected changes and unforeseen upset in the grand coronation night.
Just my two cents:
We already know the front runners.
The question is: Who among them has that “spark” that will win the heart of the Universe?
1. Guidotti – She looks smart and strong. But I guess she will just blend in the sea of faces in the Miss Universe.
2. Janson – I am not buying her smile. It looks “pilit”. She needs to improve more her poses.
3. Pia – For weird reasons, I don’t think she will represent Philippines in Miss U. Her web interview is weak (which could have been a walk in the park for her). I don’t like her walk (kumpara kay AIza na sinundan niya sa Press presentation). Nonetheless, I believe she will win one of the crowns.
(I prefer any of these three to represent us in the Miss International.)

What Venus, Shamcey, Janine and Ariella have in common is that, they all embody that unique Filipina beauty, something that screams in silence, something that will stand out from the ordinary.
And I “guess” the following exude such aura:

Thanks a lot for sharing your insights 🙂 Indeed, this is just the start of the competition and there will surely be upsets on March 30! I consider Ara’s win as a big upset last year shutting down early frontrunners. With that, we should not discount anyone for any crown 🙂
